Our Journey
Womandla Foundation's story is one of grassroots dedication and growth, driven by a vision to empower women. The organization's roots trace back to 2019, when it began as an idea nurtured by two young women. In its initial stages, Womandla operated with minimal resources and no formal funding. Despite these constraints, the founders were resolute in their commitment to community engagement and the promotion of women's rights. They employed zero-budget activities to make a difference, demonstrating their unwavering passion and resourcefulness.
2019 - 2020
Extensive Collaboration
The period spanning 2019 and 2020 was pivotal for Womandla, marked by extensive collaboration with various stakeholders and like-minded organizations. This collaborative approach proved instrumental in expanding Womandla's reach, amplifying its voice, and gaining broader recognition within the women's rights movement. By forging alliances and building strong networks, Womandla laid a solid foundation for its future endeavors.
2021
Transformative Moment
A significant turning point arrived in 2021 with the acquisition of the Love Alliance grant, which supported the "For Us Girls and Women" (FOGW) project. This marked a transformative moment for Womandla, providing the much-needed resources to scale its operations and deepen its impact. The influx of funding necessitated the expansion of the team, particularly the growth of its volunteer base, to effectively manage and implement the project's objectives.
Building Resilience
Despite the challenges encountered along the way, Womandla Foundation remained steadfast in its mission. The organization faced initial hurdles, including a lack of widespread community support due to its novelty, resistance from certain gatekeepers, and difficulties in community mobilization. Nevertheless, Womandla persevered, gradually overcoming these obstacles to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young women in the district.

Since then, Womandla Foundation has successfully secured additional funding, further accelerating its impact and expanding the scope of its programs.
