Tadiwanashe Burukai-Matutu, is a young feminist, activist, and content developer dedicated to advancing the rights and well-being of girls and women. She is the founder and Executive Director of the Womandla Foundation, a women-led organization in Zvishavane, Zimbabwe, that focuses on empowering women through education, mentorship, and advocacy. With over a decade of experience in development, humanitarian, and human rights sectors, her expertise spans sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS, gender-based violence, and minority rights.
Tadiwanashe holds a Bachelor of Social Science Honours in Politics and Public Management from Midlands State University, a Master of Arts in Development Studies from Great Zimbabwe University, and is currently pursuing a PhD in Development Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal. She is also finalizing her second Master’s degree in International Public Health with Liverpool John Moores University and has earned certificates from Johns Hopkins University and other institutions in monitoring, evaluation, and public health.
As a movement curator for SheDecides Zimbabwe, she leads national campaigns on bodily autonomy and reproductive rights, organizing national and regional events. Her consultancy work includes social media and communications for global youth coalitions on SRHR, where she develops digital campaigns and provides technical support to coalition members.
Tadiwanashe is a prolific writer, contributing articles to platforms like KhulumAfrika, NANGO, and Rights of Equality, and has presented at numerous international summits and forums. Under her leadership, the Womandla Foundation has received several accolades, including the Megafest Women’s Business Award for Young Women Leaders of the Year 2022 and the Leaders Academy Feminist Organization of the Year 2021.
Her impact extends beyond individual empowerment, as she believes that uplifting women catalyzes broader community development and social progress. Driven by a passion for justice and equality, Tadiwanashe continues to challenge harmful social norms and champion the rights of marginalized groups in Zimbabwe and beyond.
